【USTC Successfully Develops Low-Cost Sulfide Solid-State Electrolyte to Achieve Commercialization Cost】According to the official website of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), Professor Ma Chen from the university has developed a new sulfide solid-state electrolyte for all-solid-state batteries. This sulfide solid-state electrolyte not only showcases the inherent advantages of sulfide solid-state electrolytes, but also achieves a low cost suitable for commercialization that other sulfide solid-state electrolytes cannot match. On June 30, the research findings were published in the internationally renowned academic journal Angewandte Chemie International Edition. In this research, Professor Ma Chen developed a sulfide solid-state electrolyte that does not use lithium sulfide as a raw material, called lithium phosphorus oxysulfide. This solid-state electrolyte is synthesized using low-cost hydrated lithium hydroxide and phosphorus sulfide as raw materials, so its raw material cost is only US$14.42 per kilogram, less than 8% of the raw material cost of other sulfide solid-state electrolytes.
