Beijing (Gasgoo)- On June 24, Geely Automobile revealed detailed information about its new compact battery-electric SUV, the Galaxy E5, which is expected to hit the market in early August with a price range of 130,000 yuan to 170,000 yuan.

According to official information, the Galaxy E5 features the advanced Galaxy 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive system, which integrates 11 key components, including the motor, controller, and reducer. This system has a volume of only 72 liters and weighs just 79.8 kg, achieving a comprehensive efficiency of 90.04% and a minimum electricity consumption of 11.9 kWh/ 100 km.

The drive system is powered by the Infineon TC397 chip, known for its high communication efficiency and rapid power response. Enhanced by the GEA architecture and various self-developed technologies, the Galaxy E5 offers excellent vehicle balance, mitigating common discomforts associated with electric vehicles. The four-stage intelligent energy recovery system adjusts braking force based on relative vehicle distance, traffic congestion, and road slope, ensuring a smooth ride without jerks.

The Galaxy E5 also features Geely's self-developed G-TCS all-weather traction control system, which regulates torque output based on road surface adhesion, maintaining optimal grip. Using R&H virtual calibration technology, the vehicle has undergone over 10,000 calibration iterations to achieve fine-tuning down to 0.1 degrees. The CTB battery-body integration technology provides a balanced front-to-rear axle load ratio of 50:50, resulting in a lower center of gravity.

Design-wise, the Galaxy E5 adopts a tiger-face biomimetic design with striking LED headlights and C-shaped daytime running lights inspired by tiger whiskers for enhanced visual impact. Inside, the E5 features a traditional design with a floating central control screen, digital instrument panel, and HUD, all powered by the Flyme Auto system and SiEngine’s 7nm automotive-grade chip, SE1000. The SUV measures 4,615 mm in length, 1,901 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.

In terms of power, the Galaxy E5's motor delivers a maximum output of 160 kW. It offers two battery options, 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh, both using Geely's self-developed Aegis short-blade battery, providing a CLTC-rated battery-powered range of 440 km and 530 km, respectively.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
