The Deputy Premier of the Malaysian state of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, recently revealed that Sarawak has various valuable minerals estimated to be worth RM1.25 trillion. This discovery highlighted the state's potential to invest substantially in the mining industry and generate considerable economic returns.

The high estimated value of these mineral resources positions Sarawak favourably in the global market. Gold, non-radioactive rare earth elements (NR-REE), high-quality silica sand, and bauxite are among the minerals identified. Each of these resources plays a crucial role in various high-demand industries, from technology to construction. Global demand for these minerals clearly indicates the potential for Sarawak's economic growth and development.

A report published by the Minerals and Geoscience Department indicates that Sarawak's underground is rich with valuable mineral resources.

The Deputy Premier said, "According to the Minerals and Geoscience Department's report, Sarawak's underground has significant reserves of valuable mineral resources."

"So, the mineral mining sector is one of the focal points in Sarawak's Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, although comprehensive development is still underway, and detailed studies are ongoing."
