Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Recently, BYD's FANGCHENGBAO brand released official interior images of its flagship SUV, the BAO 8. The new vehicle continues the brand's family design language, striking a good balance between ruggedness and technology vibe.

As a flagship model, the BAO 8 offers both 6-seat and 7-seat layouts. The new SUV targets the 500,000-yuan market segment and is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2024.

The BAO 8's interior is crafted based on the "Future Starship Aesthetics" design concept, maintaining the same imposing presence as its exterior. It exudes the unique boldness of a rugged-look flagship model. Notable features include a flat-bottomed four-spoke steering wheel, latch-designed air vents, a key-shaped armrest, and a wide, futuristic electronic gear lever. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with a full LCD instrument cluster, a passenger-seat entertainment screen, and multimedia screens. The center armrest also houses two independent touch screens, enhancing the smart experience for both front and rear passengers.

The images show a model with dual-tone interior color schemes. The upper part of the dashboard features wood grain trim, while the ceiling is lined with suede material, offering a pleasing visual and tactile experience.

The BAO 8 adopts a three-row seating layout with options for 6 or 7 seats. The 6-seater version features independent rear seats with rich functions, ensuring a comfortable journey. The 7-seater version has a bench-style rear seat, which, when the front passenger seat is folded down, allows for seamless connection, enhancing the rear seat experience. The seats offer multiple flexible adjustment options to maximize space utilization.

The BAO 8's exterior design is bold and rugged, showcasing a strong SUV style. Its square shape is highly recognizable, and the new grille design is more robust. The vehicle features sharp, straight body lines and hidden door handles.

Power-wise, the BAO 8 is powered by a 2.0T DMO power system and includes the DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system. It features a longitudinal high-power engine, a dedicated CTC (cell-to-chassis) battery, and a specialized off-road rear drive assembly with an integrated electronic differential lock. The low-speed off-road gear can achieve a maximum ratio of 21:1. The rear motor features a top power of 285 kW and a peak torque of 400 N·m. The vehicle also offers a maximum suspension adjustment range of 140 mm, 6 kW vehicle-to-vehicle charging, and 20 kW stationary charging functions. Additionally, it will be equipped with an advanced intelligent driving system, which will eventually cover both urban and highway scenarios.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
