Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On June 13, NIO officially put its EL8 model (known as the ES8 in China) onto the markets of Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark. This marks the sixth model NIO has introduced to the European market.

In Germany, the NIO EL8 is available in two versions: the 75 kWh-battery variant priced at 94,900 (approximately 739,000 yuan) and the 100 kWh-battery variant priced at 103,900 (approximately 809,000 yuan). For reference, the NIO ES8 is priced between 498,000 yuan and 598,000 yuan in China, making the starting price of the EL8 in Germany about 240,000 yuan higher than that of the ES8 in China.

The NIO EL8 launched in these five European countries shares the same design and configuration as the ES8 sold in China, featuring hidden door handles, tower-like LiDAR, and multiple high-definition cameras.

The interior boasts a six-seater layout, with the first two rows utilizing NIO's self-developed seat frame platform. The first two rows of seats come with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, while the third row supports seat heating.

In terms of power, the EL8 is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, delivering a combined output of 480 kW and a peak torque of 850 N·m. It also features dual-chamber air suspension, a CDC (continuous damping control) system, and a Bosch IPB (integrated power brake) system.

Since 2021, NIO has been steadily expanding its strategic presence in the European market. To date, NIO has successfully launched five mass-produced models in Europe: the ET7, EL7 (called ES7 in China), ET5, ET5T, and EL6 (called ES6 in China).

Furthermore, in terms of energy replenishment, NIO has established 43 battery swap stations, 45 supercharging stations, and had access to over 600,000 third-party charging piles in Europe, achieving a total of 65,254 battery swaps.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
