[DDR3 production shortage is severe, and price rise benefits will gradually emerge in this quarter and the next quarter]

According to reports, as the standard DRAM is experiencing an unprecedented "super cycle" of supply and demand imbalance, the DDR3 production shortage is becoming even more severe. As major manufacturers such as Samsung withdraw from DDR3 production, demand for DDR3 from terminals such as AI and edge computing continues to increase, and the capacity of a single device is increasing linearly, which will trigger a surge in DDR3 prices. Industry analysts believe that as the production reduction effects of major DRAM factories continue to ferment, driving the prices of standard DRAM to rise from the second half of 2023 to the present, and the upward trend is still expected to continue. The price of niche memory such as DDR3 will be one to two quarters later than standard DRAM. For vendors such as Winbond, Macronix, and NANYA, who mainly focus on DDR3, the price rise benefits of DDR3 will gradually emerge in this quarter and the next quarter. (Taiwan Economic Daily)
