Beijing (Gasgoo)- Recently, Chinese chiplet design company Polar Bear Tech announced the completion of a new round of financing, introducing V Fund as an investor. The funds will be primarily used for the initial batch of core chiplet tape-outs and packaging tests, propelling the company to establish China's first independently marketable chiplet product library.

Originating from the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences at Tsinghua University and incubated by the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Core Technology, Polar Bear Tech is a dedicated chiplet design enterprise in China. The core team has extensive expertise in the chiplet field, with globally recognized academic influence and substantial practical experience in product development.

Since its inception, Polar Bear Tech has focused on advancing and perfecting interconnect interfaces across different process nodes and various independent chiplets. These efforts aim to facilitate chiplet integration development for chip design across multiple scenarios. The chiplet architecture allows for any chip design company to expand and develop custom chips based on existing third-party generic chiplets, such as CPU chiplets, SoC chiplets, and I/O chiplets. This approach enhances cost-effectiveness, reduces development risks, and accelerates product iteration, significantly lowering the barriers to high-performance computing chip design.

As of now, Polar Bear Tech's self-developed chiplet interconnect standard PB Link and AI acceleration modules have been externally licensed. Starting from 2024, the company's high-performance general-purpose SoC chiplets, self-developed Zeus Gen2 AI acceleration chiplets, and GPU chiplets will be successively delivered for tape-out.
