Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 30th, Farizon New Energy Commercial Vehicle Group ("Farizon Auto"), a subsidiary of Geely Holding Group focusing on commercial vehicle segment, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the People's Governments of Qujing City (a prefecture-level city of Yunnan province) and Xuanwei City (a county-level city administered by Qujing city), reaching a consensus on a comprehensive plan centered around an alcohol-hydrogen ecological layout.

This signing of the new agreement marks the promotion of China's green methanol - carbon-negative methanol production model, accelerating the large-scale production and application of green methanol. According to the framework agreement, the two parties will leverage their respective advantages and collaborate deeply in various fields, including new energy project development, methanol production, the synthesis of green methanol from CO2 and green hydrogen, the promotion and application of alcohol-hydrogen electric vehicles, and the manufacturing of new energy commercial vehicles.

In addition, the project will utilize Geely's "CO2 + hydrogen" methanol production technology and full industry chain advantages. This involves efficiently capturing CO2 from industrial waste gases and utilizing by-product hydrogen from industrial processes to produce green methanol, establishing a demonstration project for a green methanol industrial park.

Upon completion of the project, the synthetic methanol produced will reduce CO2 emissions by 100,000 tonnes per year (equivalent to the carbon absorption of 100,000 mu of mature forest), accelerating the local carbon neutrality process, and aiding in the transformation and upgrading of Qujing's coking industry to achieve near-zero industrial carbon emissions. In terms of methanol refueling and application, the project will include the planning and construction of methanol fuel refueling stations within Qujing City's jurisdiction. It will focus on providing comprehensive solutions for long-distance freight, urban logistics, municipal sanitation, short-distance transportation, and public transportation, as well as the construction of integrated energy superports and new energy vehicle replenishment stations. Together, they aim to create an innovative demonstration operation project for the liquid sunlight methanol economy.
