Lithium Universe Limited recently unveiled its procurement strategy for the Becancour Lithium Project in Quebec.

Lithium Universe Limited recently unveiled its procurement strategy for the Becancour Lithium Project in Quebec. This strategy focuses on leveraging proven suppliers and equipment to ensure efficiency and quality in the refinery's construction.

Key members of Lithium Universe's board, including Executive Chairman Iggy Tan, visited multiple lithium refineries in China to validate their process design and construction philosophy. They observed strategic expansions by Chinese producers, particularly in battery-grade lithium carbonate, driven by the growing demand for Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries. This trend reinforces Lithium Universe’s decision to focus on producing battery-grade lithium carbonate at their Becancour facility.

The procurement strategy for Becancour aims to replicate the success of the Jiangsu Lithium Carbonate Refinery, also constructed by Iggy Tan and his team. By using the same reliable Chinese suppliers and equipment, Lithium Universe plans to reduce engineering work and expedite the construction process. This approach will not only lower costs but also ensure high-quality output, vital for meeting North America’s lithium demand.

Chairman Iggy Tan emphasized, "By sticking with what works, we aim to expedite the engineering process and ensure seamless coordination among all parties involved." This strategy aligns with efforts to localize the lithium supply chain in North America, bridging the conversion gap and supporting governmental initiatives to restore the battery supply chain in Canada.
