Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 28th, BYD officially announced the guidance prices for its fire new mid-sized sedan, the Qin L DM-i. The new car comes with five trim levels, with prices ranging from 99,800 yuan to 139,800 yuan. Additionally, customers can receive a trade-in subsidy of up to 15,000 yuan.

As the newest member of the Qin family, the BYD Qin L DM-i adopts a refined front face with a large lower grille, giving it a more imposing look. The slim and sharp headlight clusters integrate with the upward-curving illuminated "dragon whiskers," enhancing its dynamic appearance.

The side profile of the car showcases a waistline that runs from the front fender to the rear door, making the body appear more elongated. The car features a fastback design, adding a touch of sportiness to its stable and grand appearance. Traditional door handles are used in the design.

At the rear, the wide rear shoulder design not only complements the front face but also adds a muscular contour to the body. The car features a full-width taillight design inspired by the Chinese knot, enhancing its distinctiveness. Notably, it uses a simplified BYD logo that can light up.

In terms of dimensions, the Qin L DM-i measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790 mm, positioning it as a mid-sized car. For comparison, the existing Qin PLUS model measures 4,765 mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,718 mm, making the Qin L DM-i noticeably larger.

Additionally, the rear suspension has been upgraded from the torsion beam of the Qin PLUS to an E-type multi-link independent suspension.

The Qin L DM-i is available in four exterior colors: Ice Jade Green, Jian Ware Purple, Polished Jade White, and Tea Crystal Gray.

Inside, the interior design of the Qin L DM-i draws inspiration from Chinese landscape paintings, featuring an integrated design for the central control panel. The car is equipped with an embedded large-sized LCD instrument panel and a 15.6-inch rotatable central control screen. The three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel and wireless phone charging add a technological touch to meet modern user needs. The car comes with the DiLink intelligent cockpit, which includes a 15.6-inch adaptive rotating floating Pad, in-car ETC, NFC phone key, and all-scenario intelligent voice controls, fully compatible with smartphone ecosystems. All variants are equipped with in-car ETC and NFC phone keys as standard.

In terms of power, the major upgrade for the new car is the adoption of the DM 5.0 system, which represents BYD's latest technology for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. This system consists of a 1.5L engine paired with an electric motor. The engine produces a maximum power of 74 kW and a peak torque of 126 N·m, while the electric motor has two power options available.

The new car is equipped with BYD's Blade Battery with two capacity choices offered to consumers. The lower-spec version comes with a 10.08 kWh battery pack and an electric motor with 120 kW/210N·m, providing a CLTC battery-power range of 80 km. The high-spec version carries a 15.874 kWh battery pack and a motor with a maximum power of 160 kW/260N·m, offering a CLTC range of 120 km on battery power alone. Thanks to the fifth-generation DM technology platform, the engine achieves a maximum thermal efficiency of 46.06%, resulting in a fuel consumption of only 2.9L/100km under NEDC conditions when the battery is depleted, and a combined driving range of 2,100 km with a full tank and full charge.

The Qin L DM-i is equipped with the DiPilot intelligent driving assistance system across all variants, which includes functions such as ACC (adaptive cruise control), ICC (intelligent cruise control), LDW (lane departure warning), and LDP (lane departure prevention). It also features a four-sensor rear parking radar and a 3D panoramic transparent image system.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
