Beijing (Gasgoo)- During May 14 to 16, BAIC Motor officially put the BJ40 PLUS and X55 models onto the markets of Indonesia and Malaysia, marking a new chapter in the BAIC brand's global development.

The X55 and BJ40 PLUS are globally-oriented models developed by BAIC Motor specifically for right-hand drive markets. These vehicles not only boast excellent performance and quality but also reflect BAIC's deep understanding of and insight into the market.

Both models have been localized to meet the needs and habits of local consumers, ensuring they cater to diverse mobility requirements. The X55 stands out with its design, power, and dimensions, aligning well with local preferences. The BJ40 PLUS, with its superior off-road capabilities, offers an exciting new driving experience for off-road enthusiasts.

Southeast Asia's geographical advantages, population dividend, rapid economic growth, and cultural proximity make it a popular destination for Chinese automakers expanding abroad. As the first and second-largest automotive markets in Southeast Asia, Indonesia and Malaysia have well-established automotive production systems. Consumers in these markets are increasingly demanding quality, new energy, intelligent, and personalized vehicles—areas where BAIC excels.

This year, BAIC Motor plans to partner with international allies to establish a sales and service network across Indonesia and Malaysia while also advancing the construction of local KD assembly lines. In the future, it aims to support the global trend towards a low-carbon economy by promoting new energy vehicles, tailored to the charging infrastructure, policy environment, and consumer acceptance in both countries.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
