The research focuses on ordered layered oxides, which are currently one of the most important cathode materials in lithium-ion batteries. During deep charging, this structural framework is susceptible to lattice stress, structural or mechanochemical degradation, causing a sharp drop in battery capacity and thus shortening battery life.
