The White House announced on the 14th that it will impose additional tariffs on a range of Chinese goods, including steel and aluminum semis, semiconductors, electric vehicles, batteries, critical minerals, solar cells, cranes, and medical goods. The new measures will impact goods worth $18.0 billion. According to the White House website, tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles will increase from the current 25% to 100%. At a press conference earlier on the 14th, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin responded to the question about "Biden's announcement of additional tariffs on Chinese goods including electric vehicles," stating that China will take all necessary measures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
