Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On May 10th, during the eighth annual China Brand Day, SAIC Motor's self-owned passenger vehicle brand, Roewe, unveiled its "DMH Super Hybrid Technology", according to SAIC Motor's press release. This new technology brand aims to pioneer hybrid electric products for a global audience.

Since 2010, SAIC Motor has been actively developing PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle)-dedicated technology, viewing it as a significant area that worth its long-term investment. In 2017, the group's self-developed first-generation EDU hybrid technology earned the second prize of the State Science and Technology Awards. Introduced at the conference, the DMH Super Hybrid Technology represents a new pinnacle of integration and intelligence, built upon years of technical accumulation and market validation.

According to SAIC Motor, the DMH Super Hybrid Technology distinguishes itself through its decent modularity, integration, and exclusivity. Designed with a modular approach and configured in series, the system can adapt to various hybrid configurations, such as PHEV, EREV (extended range electric vehicle), and HEV (hybrid electric vehicle). This flexibility allows it to meet diverse global driving demands and emission standards. It includes industry-first features such as a comprehensive thermal management "energy domain," a powertrain brain named PICU, and a coaxial structure that merges the engine with the P1 electric motor. Centered on software algorithms, the system harmonizes specialized hardwarehigh-efficiency engines, transmissions, and long-range batteriesto achieve an optimal blend of hardware and software, enhancing performance and efficiency.

Currently, the DMH Super Hybrid Technology has debuted in Roewe's "extended-range super hybrid model," the Roewe D7 DMH, and the "new mainstream hybrid SUV," the Roewe D5X DMH. The automaker revealed that the Roewe D7 DMH recently completed a challenge to achieve a 2,000km extreme range, managing an impressive 1,962km under adverse weather conditions with an average fuel consumption of just 2.8 liters per 100 kilometers.

Qiu Jie, Vice President of SAIC Motor R&D Innovation Headquarters, announced that over the next three years, the DMH Super Hybrid Technology brand will focus on performance enhancements in five key areas: engines, transmissions, batteries, electric motors, and energy control brains. For instance, engine thermal efficiency is anticipated to surpass 46% and meet the "Euro 7" emission standard first in China. In transmission technology, the target for carbon dioxide emissions for HEV-related routes is to be under 95 grams per kilometer. Moreover, improvements to the energy control brain are expected, with the next generation of vehicle energy center concepts set to be released in 2025.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
