Shanghai (Gasgoo)- BYD recently unveiled official images of its first new energy pickup truck model, the SHARK, primarily highlighting the vehicle's side design.

The new model mainly targets markets outside of China, and it is scheduled for official launch in Mexico on May 14th.

This model is constructed using the same platform as the BYD FANGCHENGBAO's BAO 5 SUV model. The proportions of the SHARK are well-balanced, according to the official images, with the passenger and cargo compartments extending beyond the engine compartment. This layout not only ensures ample space for seating and storage but also caters to the needs of daily family use and the demands of off-road and adventure enthusiasts.

In terms of design details, the SHARK features black paint on the front and rear wheel arches and side skirts, enhancing the vehicle's resistance to scratches and boosting its visual appeal. Additionally, it includes practical features such as side steps, a roll bar, and a roof rack, which underscore its off-road capabilities.

From previously leaked spy shots and the newly released official images, the SHARK has a rugged-looking front face, featuring a prominent "BYD" logo and powerful-looking side lamps. It is expected to feature full-length daytime running lights and taillights mirror the design of the front headlamp assembly.

Inside, the SHARK is equipped with high-tech features like a streaming rearview mirror, a full LCD dashboard, and a floating central control screen, all of which can enhance the driving experience. The gear shift area includes several physical buttons for driver's operation ease.

The steering wheel of the BYD SHARK pickup adopts a four-spoke design, distinctly different from other models in the BYD family, further highlighting its unique design style and personality.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
