Mexico Cancels Tariffs on Aluminum Imports to Cope with Aluminum Shortage
Mexico has canceled tariffs on aluminum imports from countries without trade agreements due to material shortages in the automotive and electronics industries. According to a decree released on Wednesday, Mexico has canceled tariffs of up to 35% on aluminum since late April. The Mexican government explained that there is no domestic production of unfinished non-alloyed or alloyed aluminum. "Among the countries that have signed international trade treaties with Mexico, the supply of the above-mentioned goods is not sufficient to meet the required supply in the automotive industry, automotive parts, electronics, and other industries," the decree said.
