On May 7, silicon metal prices in East China held stable. The prices of standard #553 silicon metal stayed between 12,900-13,100 yuan/mt, versus 13,200-13,400 yuan/mt for above-standard #553 silicon metal and 13,700-13,800 yuan/mt for #421. As for submerged arc furnaces, some low-grade silicon prices rose yesterday. Today, some silicon companies hold firm quotations but transactions are limited. Downstream purchases are still mainly based on demand, with the mainstream traded prices holding stable. As for intermediate frequency furnaces, low-priced recycled silicon has been in short supply recently. Active transactions have led to a slight increase in traded prices after the holiday.
