Albemarle's Lithium Hydroxide Lithium Battery Materials Project in Sichuan with Annual Production of 50,000 Tons Officially Put into Operation On April 26th, the lithium hydroxide lithium battery materials project with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons, invested by the US-based Albemarle Corporation with US$900 million in Meishan, Sichuan, was officially put into operation. As Albemarle's largest fixed asset investment project in China, once the project reaches full production capacity, it is expected to generate an annual output value of RMB 5 billion, meeting the power demand of over 1.5 million new energy vehicles and reducing 100 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions within the battery life cycle. According to the production schedule, the project is expected to achieve a production capacity of 10,000 tons and an output value of approximately RMB 1 billion this year. Once the base is fully completed, it will play an important role in accelerating the construction of the new energy and new materials manufacturing base in the Chengdu-Chongqing region and promoting the high-quality development of the lithium battery industry in Meishan.
