Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 25, 2024, the opening day of the Auto China 2024, CATL unveiled the world's first lithium iron phosphate battery that enables a 1,000 km range with 4C supercharging capabilities, named Shenxing PLUS.

The latest launch came only 8 months after CATL's introduction of the Shenxing supercharging battery in August 2023.

The Shenxing PLUS battery provides users with an ultra-long range of up to 1,000 kilometers, equivalent to traveling from Beijing to Nanjing cities without needing to recharge. With its exceptional range, the Shenxing PLUS is well-suited for daily commutes, inter-city travel, and long-distance trips, significantly broadening the practical range of new energy vehicles.

Behind this "thousand-kilometer" range is a series of continuous technological innovations. The cathode utilizes a particle gradation technique that optimally places each nanoparticle, achieving an ultra-high compaction density. The anode features a proprietary three-dimensional honeycomb material that increases energy density and controls volume expansion during charge and discharge cycles effectively. Additionally, CATL has developed an integrated shell structure for the battery, significantly enhancing the internal space utilization and pushing the energy density of the Shenxing PLUS to new heights.

Systematically, the Shenxing PLUS battery enhances its design with the third-generation Cell-to-Pack (CTP 3.0) technology, optimizing the topological structure to maximize energy storage space and improving volume grouping efficiency by 7%. These material and structural breakthroughs have enabled the Shenxing battery system's energy density to exceed 200 Wh/kg for the first time, reaching 205 Wh/kg, and making over 1,000 km of vehicle range feasible.

The Shenxing PLUS battery not only provides long range but also charges rapidly, delivering up to 600 km of range in just 10 minutes of charging.

To realize these quick charging speeds, the Shenxing PLUS battery incorporates fast ion conductor coating, transition metal doping, and innovative nano-coatings to facilitate more efficient energy transfer between the anode and cathode. It also expands the pole pillar's cross-sectional area and current-carrying capacity to ensure rapid cooling under high-current charging conditions. The latest AI intelligent polarization model developed for the BMS core algorithms can estimate and control the charging current in real time, making recharging faster and smarter.

Beyond its innovative battery technologies, CATL has officially launched the construction of the Shenxing Supercharging Network, aiming to establish the largest supercharging service platform in China. In collaboration with leading industry partners such as Huawei, Star Charge, YKC, and Sichuan Shudao New Energy Technology Development, CATL is set to provide the most convenient and cost-effective driving experience for owners of vehicles equipped with Shenxing supercharging batteries.

Additionally, CATL will introduce the industry's first Shenxing Car Owners' Club. Leveraging its after-sales service system, with over 600 brick-and-mortar service stores covering 31 provinces and 271 prefecture-level cities in China, CATL will offer relevant car owners comprehensive services including roadside assistance, battery testing, and maintenance.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
