Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 24, WeRide, a leading, commercial-stage global company that develops Level 4 autonomous driving technologies, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tencent Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. ("Tencent Cloud"), according to WeRide's press release.

The partnership will focus on developing advanced solutions for autonomous driving cloud platforms and light mapping systems, aiming to create top-tier intelligent driving solutions that power global OEMs and Tier 1 customers.

Founded in 2017, WeRide is the only technology company globally to hold autonomous driving licenses in China, the USA, the UAE, and Singapore. It has conducted autonomous driving technology R&D, testing, and operations in over 30 cities across 7 countries, with applications covering such scenarios as intelligent mobility, intelligent freight, and intelligent sanitation. It has currently formed a product matrix that includes autonomous taxis, minibuses, freight vehicles, sanitation vehicles, and advanced intelligent driving systems.

Tencent Cloud aims to be a "digital assistant" and "ecosystem co-builder" for the automotive mobility industry transformation, leveraging cloud, mapping, AI, and other digital technologies to help global customers iteratively grow. It develops proprietary AI platform capabilities, aiming to reduce costs and increase efficiency across the entire spectrum from R&D to operations.

This collaboration will leverage WeRide's comprehensive expertise in full-stack development of autonomous driving technologies, data loop applications, factory-installed mass production, and operational deployment, along with Tencent's leading capabilities in cloud, big data, simulation, and AI. Together, they will build a data-driven, efficient autonomous driving cloud platform covering the entire processes of R&D, testing, and operations, and will co-develop lightweight map product solutions to accelerate the mass production and implementation of intelligent driving systems.

Additionally, both parties will continue to drive digital transformation and business cloud integration, engage in deep cooperation on new-type talent development, explore cutting-edge technologies, and jointly innovate in services to promote the verification and implementation of new concepts.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
