Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Recently, SAIC Motor's MG brand officially released the official images of the MG EXE181 concept car model, which is crafted by SAIC's UK Advanced Design Studio, drawing creative inspiration from across the globe.

The new car will make its global debut at the 2024 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition ( Auto China 2024) and will appear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2024.

The EXE181, nicknamed "Roaring Raindrop", is actually a classic masterpiece in MG’s history. In 1959, the MG EX181 set a speed record of 410.5 km/h, marking the highest speed achieved on earth's surface in the 20th century. The driver at the time, Phil Hill, went on to become the first American F1 world champion two years later.

The year of 2024 marks the centenary of the MG brand and the 20th anniversary of Formula 1 Grand Prix's first race in China. The tribute to the "Roaring Raindrop" showcases MG's pursuit of speed and exploration in the electric era.

The newly released design images reveal that the car features an avant-garde and sci-fi styling, capturing the essence of a futuristic supercar. Designed with an emphasis on achieving top speeds and a reduced drag coefficient, the vehicle boasts a highly streamlined silhouette. The car's drag coefficient is reported to be just 0.181Cd, making it one of the lowest globally.

The concept car carries a single-seat cockpit, adopting a minimalist design optimized for extreme speeds. Its production version is set to feature SAIC Motor's advanced aerodynamic design and technologies for batteries, electric motors, and electric control units, targeting a top speed of 415 km/h. Currently in the concept design and engineering validation stage, the vehicle is strategically poised to enter the elite "sub-1-second club" for 0-100 km/h acceleration in the near future.
