Beijing (Gasgoo)- On April 18, Dongfeng Forthing officially launched its new energy vehicle range, Xinghai (name in Chinese pinyin). The inaugural model from the range, the Xinghai V9 luxurious new energy flagship MPV, started pre-sale at the same time.

Positioned as a mid-to-large MPV, the Xinghai V9 offers five variants across two series, with pre-sale prices ranging from 199,900 yuan to 279,900 yuan. The official launch is scheduled for the end of May.

In addition, Forthing also unveiled another model from the Xinghai range, the Xinghai S7, which is set to make its public debut at the upcoming Auto China 2024 in Beijing next week.

The launch of the Xinghai range signals Dongfeng Forthing's accelerated transition to new energy vehicles and its entry into the household vehicle market starting from 2024. Over the next three years, the automaker plans to roll out 13 new energy models under the Xinghai range, covering MPVs, sedans, SUVs, and more.

The Xinghai V9 boasts two distinct front-end designs: the business-oriented "Qingyun Ti" grille, symbolizing progress with its nine-horizontal-bar pattern, and the family-focused "Chinese Knot" version, featuring a waterfall-style intake grille and a split-type headlight design, is inspired by the traditional Chinese knots.

Measuring 5,248mm in length, 1,920mm in width, 1,820mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,018mm, the Xinghai V9 accommodates a 2+2+3 seven-seat layout.

Under the hood, the Xinghai V9 utilizes Dongfeng’s Mach PHREV technology equipped with a 1.5T plug-in hybrid electric system. The top-spec version of the Xinghai V9 is installed with a 34.9kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering a battery-powered range of 200km and a combined range of 1,300km under CLTC conditions.

Inside the cabin, the Xinghai V9 offers a 41-inch smart ultra-clear three-screen setup, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip and integrated with Tencent TAI 4.0 intelligent car system. The vehicle features L2+ intelligent driving assistance system and high-speed NOA function.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
