【M23 disrupts key tin supply route in North Kivu】Members of the non-state armed group M23 continue to expand their territory in the North Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, an important supply area for global 3Ts (tin, tantalum, and tungsten). Since mid-2022, M23 rebels have control over the region between Lake Edward and Lake Kivu, a crucial trade route for minerals including tin. Reports indicate that the rebel group has blocked two main roads from the north and west into Goma, preventing the transportation of goods to this provincial capital with a population of two million people.
