IDC: Apple iPhone shipments in the first quarter drop nearly 10%
According to data from International Data Corporation (IDC), Apple (AAPL.O) saw a 9.6% decline in iPhone shipments in the first quarter of this year, with a market share of 17.3%. Samsung topped the list with a 20.8% share. Apple is losing ground as the overall smartphone industry rebounds. In the past year, global smartphone shipments have reached 289.4 million units, a 7.8% increase from the same period last year. Budget brands like Transsion saw an 85% increase in shipments, while Xiaomi also rebounded, narrowing the gap with second-ranked Apple. Preliminary data from IDC shows that Apple's iPhone shipments decreased by 5 million units compared to the same period last year. (FX168 News)
