According to the Financial Times of the UK, Ningde Times Chairman Zeng Yuqun stated in a recent interview that solid-state batteries still face many challenges, including issues related to durability and safety. He questioned the optimistic attitudes of Japanese automakers regarding the timeline for the commercialization of solid-state batteries and pointed out that the technology is still not perfect. Zeng Yuqun emphasized that the team at Ningde Times has invested a significant amount of time and resources into the field of solid-state batteries and has made commendable progress. He also noted that Ningde Times will focus on the development of sodium ion batteries using semi-solid materials and solid-state batteries, with prototypes now in production.
In Zeng Yuqun's view, the commercialization of solid-state batteries will require more time and effort, as the current technology still has numerous issues that need to be addressed. Despite companies like Toyota in Japan touting their progress, he expressed doubt about whether they can achieve commercialization in the short term.
