Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 7th, Shenzhen Contemporary Amperex Supply Chain Co., Ltd. was formally incorporated, with Su Shewei as its legal representative, according to information obtained from the Chinese company information provider Qichacha (QCC).

The new enterprise features a registered capital of 20 million yuan, and its business scope extends to cover supply chain management services, battery manufacturing, sales of metal matrix composites and ceramic matrix composites, sales of photovoltaic equipment and components, sales of graphite and carbon products, and wholesale of auto parts.

The information from QCC shows that the company is wholly owned by Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Ltd. (CATL).

Established in 2011, CATL is the leading Chinese manufacturer of power batteries with a competitive edge on the global stage. It focuses on the R&D, production, and sales of power battery systems and energy storage systems for new energy vehicles. Committed to delivering premier solutions for the world's new energy industry, CATL's expertise spans the entire value chain in the power and energy storage domains, including advanced materials, cell technology, battery system integration, and the sustainable reuse and recycling of battery components.

Last month, CATL released its financial report, which indicates that the company achieved a total operating income of 400.917 billion yuan last year, a year-on-year increase of 22%. Its annual net profit attributable to shareholders was 44.121 billion yuan, surging 44% from the previous year. Excluding the impact of certain non-recurring gains and losses, the net profit still exceeded 40 billion yuan. During the same period, CATL's gross profit margin was 22.91%, and its net profit margin stood at 11.66%, both showing improvements compared to the previous year.

CATL has deep ties with Shenzhen city. On August 27, 2022, CATL, together with SERES Group, announced the integration of its Qilin Battery into the new models under AITO, a smart new energy vehicle brand co-built by SERES and Huawei. The two parties signed a five-year strategic cooperation agreement, under which AITO-branded models would be fully equipped with CATL's power batteries.

On June 16, 2023, CATL signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, focusing on key areas such as the battery swapping, electric boats, new-type energy storage, green industry parks, financial services, and trade.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
