Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On April 7, DENZA, the premium new energy vehicle brand majority-backed by BYD, officially announced its latest flagship sedan was named the DENZA Z9 GT. Positioned as a large luxury GT (grand tourer) sports sedan, it features a station wagon body design and aims to compete head-on with models such as the Porsche Panamera upon its market release.

Currently, the model is undergoing road testing in Stuttgart, Germany, in preparation for its mass production launch. It is scheduled to make its debut at the Auto China 2024 in Beijing on April 25, with plans for a market release later this year. Additionally, there are expectations for the Z9 GT to be sold in overseas markets concurrently.

The DENZA Z9 GT was designed under the leadership of BYD's Global Design Director, Wolfgang Egger. Although the vehicle's overall appearance is obscured by camouflage in spy shots, it's apparent that the front end adopts a minimalist design style, featuring slim, sharp headlights on either side. An air intake grille is present at the bottom, hinting at the possibility of both PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) and BEV (battery electric vehicle) variants.

The side profile emphasizes the beauty of a GT sports car, with frameless doors and concealed handles contributing to a sleek, elongated silhouette and a notably low ground clearance, achieving a grounded stance.

The rear is robust, with a subtle waistline harmonizing with the arch above the rear wheel, exuding an air of sophistication and elegance. It's likely to feature a full-width LED taillight and a broad rear bumper design.

Zhao Changjiang, the General Manager of BYD DENZA Sales Division, previously revealed that this new intelligent luxury flagship sedan surpasses competitors like the Porsche Panamera and Mercedes-Benz S-Class in terms of space, intelligent features, comfort experience, and acceleration control. The model is expected to nearly match a moose test speed of 90 km/h and achieve a minimum turning radius of less than ten meters.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
