Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Continental AG announced on Mar. 29 its new intelligent factory in Qufu city, Shandong province, which is operated by Road-Broad Automotive Electronics (Qufu) Co. Ltd. ("Road-Broad"), has already gone into operation.

Covering an area of approximately 30,000 square meters, the new facility boasts a production area of nearly 10,000 square meters. With over fifty production lines already installed, the factory will manufacture a diverse range of products including wheel speed sensors, camshaft/crankshaft position sensors, and electronic parking wire harness assembly, extensively utilized in motorcycles, new energy vehicles, and conventional oil-fueled automobiles. The new factory's operation is expected to boost overall production capacity of Road-Broad by 150%, effectively meeting the escalating product demand in both the Chinese and global markets.

Constructed in accordance with green factory and Industry 4.0 standards, the new Qufu factory comprises essential infrastructures such as workshops, R&D centers, office buildings, laboratories, dining facilities, and warehouses. The first batch of production lines was in place on Nov. 10, 2023, only nine months after the factory's groundbreaking on Feb. 8, 2023.

Looking ahead, the factory will advance the development of new quality production through advanced automation equipment, including collaborative robots, 3D printing, AI camera-based quality inspection, BI data processing, and warehouse distribution utilizing AGVs (automated guided vehicles), thereby enhancing production efficiency. Additionally, the factory will incorporate rooftop photovoltaic power generation systems and introduce green intelligent equipment, furthering its commitment to green operations and sustainable development.

Established in 2013, Road-Broad is a joint venture between Continental AG and Qufu Temb Auto Parts Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a prominent local parts supplier in China. It serves as one of Continental AG's crucial global production bases for passive safety sensors, manufacturing various products such as wheel speed sensors, camshaft/crankshaft position sensors, and electronic parking wire harnesses. Presently, the factory supplies products to over 60 customers in China.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
