Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On March 21, Aptiv, a global technology company that develops safer, greener and more connected solutions, officially inaugurates its connector system Wuhan factory project, with the ground-breaking ceremony held at the same time, according to a post on Aptiv's WeChat account.

Aptiv stands as one of the first multinational corporations to enter the Chinese market following the country's initiation of reform and opening up. The company's collaboration with the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone ("WEDZ") is a testament to its long-standing commitment to growth and innovation within the region.

Aptiv's engagement in Wuhan dates back to 2007 when its electrical systems division established a branch in the WEDZ. This facility has been instrumental in providing wiring harness products and services to major automotive manufacturers like Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile Company, Dongfeng Nissan, and Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Company.

In July 2022, reinforcing its commitment to the central Chinese market, Aptiv inaugurated its first engineering technology center in the region within WEDZ. Operational since March of the previous year, the center serves as a pivotal hub, extending its services across central and western China.

The newly launched Wuhan factory project is located in Junshan New City, represents a significant leap forward. With an investment of 2 billion yuan, Aptiv aims to develop the project into state-of-the-art smart manufacturing facility. Slated for production commencement in the first quarter of 2025, the plant will focus on manufacturing cutting-edge products such as high-voltage charging stations and connectors for new energy vehicles. While primarily catering to the domestic market, the facility also sets the stage for Aptiv to expand its export activities, further positioning the company as a leader in the global transition towards greener and more intelligent mobility solutions.
