Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese new energy vehicle maker NETA Auto announced on March 13 a significant breakthrough in its globalization efforts, specifically within the Thai market.

The company's Thailand subsidiary has been granted the 185 certification by the Thai government, a critical step that signifies the commencement of scale production at NETA Auto's KD (Knock-Down) factory in Thailand.

This certification marks a pivotal moment for NETA Auto, enabling the brand to ramp up its manufacturing capabilities in Thailand. Currently, the factory's staff are fully engaged in the bustling production of the NETA V-II model, preparing for the upcoming the Bangkok International Motor Show. This event is poised to showcase the NETA V-II, the second major model NETA Auto plans to launch in the Thai market.

The foundation stone for NETA Auto's eco-smart factory in Thailand was laid in March 2023, located in the Kan Na Yao district of Bangkok. This facility, NETA Auto's first overseas factory, is designed to be a principal manufacturing base for right-hand drive electric vehicles intended for export to ASEAN markets, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 vehicles.

NETA Auto's "Deep Dive into ASEAN, Landing in the EU" global development strategy has been rapidly advancing. According to public records, NETA Auto's overseas sales in 2023 exceeded 20,000 units, a staggering 567% year-over-year soar.

In Thailand, NETA Auto's first international market, the carmaker nearly clinched a 20% share of the local pure electric vehicle market in just over a year. In June 2023, local registrations of the NETA V model doubled, reaching 2,203 units. Additionally, in November last month, NETA Auto announced the collaboration with Indonesia's PT HIM. Per the agreement, NETA Auto's products are slated for production in Indonesia in the second quarter of 2024, utilizing the KD assembly process.

NETA Auto's global outreach now extends beyond Southeast Asia to European, Middle Eastern, American, and African markets. Aiming to cater to a broader global consumer base, NETA Auto plans to expand its market presence to over 60 countries and surpass 500 overseas dealerships by 2024.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
