Energy Storage Battery Prices Remain Stable in February amid Intensifying Market Competition

SMM News on March 13th: In February 2024, the average monthly price of 280Ah square lithium iron phosphate energy storage battery cells was 0.43 yuan/Wh, staying flat compared to the previous month. The average monthly price of 100Ah square lithium iron phosphate energy storage battery cells was 0.45 yuan/Wh, also staying flat.

According to SMM's calculations, as of the end of February, the theoretical cost of 280 energy storage battery cells is 0.34 yuan/Wh, but the current low-tax price of 280 cells is only 0.36 yuan/Wh, reflecting the low profit margin of energy storage battery manufacturers in the current fiercely competitive market. Looking at February, the market transactions were relatively light due to the Chinese New Year holiday, with many energy storage manufacturers reducing production and inventory. Energy storage battery prices mostly remained stable. However, looking ahead, as manufacturers resume work in March and prepare for the subsequent 430 grid connection, market transactions are gradually recovering. Although the current cost fluctuation of energy storage cells is small, in the context of oversupply, manufacturer competition may further intensify, and there may still be downward pressure on energy storage battery prices.
