SMM News on March 8th: China's domestic lithium carbonate production was about 32,000 tons in February, down 21.8% month-on-month and up 5.4% year-on-year. The cumulative production of lithium carbonate in China from January to February was 74,000 tons, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 10.9%. Looking at the raw material situation, due to the previous sluggish market, some lithium salt companies that purchased lithium ore from abroad had little to no profit, and most of them did not sign long-term contracts after the Chinese New Year. Many small and medium-sized lithium salt companies that purchased raw materials from abroad started to reduce or stop production in January and continued to do so until late February, gradually resuming production.
