Great Wall Motor sees vehicle sales volume jump 34.91% YoY in Jan.-Feb. 2024

Great Wall Motor sold a total of 175,057 vehicles in the first two months of 2024, representing a 34.91% year-on-year (YoY) jump, according to the company's monthly sales results issued on Tuesday.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Great Wall Motor ("GWM") sold a total of 175,057 vehicles in the first two months of 2024, representing a 34.91% year-on-year (YoY) jump, according to the company's monthly sales results issued on Tuesday. Of those, new energy vehicles accounted for a sales volume of 37,300 units, which surged 154.1% over a year earlier.

Notably, the vehicles priced over 200,000 yuan made up 21.65% of the company's overall Jan.-Feb. sales.

For February alone, GWM sold 71,027 vehicles (+4.12% YoY), with new energy vehicle sales reaching 12,270 units, which indicated a YoY leap of 46.95%.

Breaking down the performance of specific brands:

Haval brand sold 44,731 new vehicles in February, reflecting a 14.22% YoY increase. Cumulatively, Haval achieved a sales volume of 103,834 vehicles in the first two months, showcasing a YoY improvement of 32.52%.

WEY brand sold 2,649 new vehicles in February, accumulating a total of 6,000 units in the first two months of this year. The WEY brand's high-end model, the Gaoshan, has officially been exported to Dubai, and is set to help the brand explore new markets in the Middle East for luxury business travel.

TANK brand achieved sales of 10,164 vehicles in February, with a notable YoY growth of 60.21%. Cumulatively, TANK reached a sales volume of 30,231 vehicles in the first two months, experiencing a significant YoY spike of 146.6%.

On February 26, GWM put its high-end off-road model, the TANK 700 Hi4-T, onto the market. Within 24 hours upon its official market launch, the model received an impressive order volume of 6,137 units.

The new energy vehicle-dedicated ORA brand recorded sales of 3,006 new vehicles in February, and the cumulative sales volume for the first two months reached 9,007 units (+10.5% YoY). In 2024, ORA plans to launch several new products, including sedans and SUVs, aiming for comprehensive coverage across the A0 to C-segment markets.

Great Wall Pick-up achieved sales of 10,460 vehicles in February, resulting in a year-to-date sales volume of 25,926 units.

In February, GWM's overseas sales reached 30,589 vehicles, reflecting a remarkable YoY hike of 123.54%. Cumulatively, the overseas sales for the first two months amounted to 56,963 units, zooming up 91.91% from the previous year.

Recently, ORA's Good Cat model came off the production line at GWM’s Rayong factory in Thailand, becoming the country's first mass-produced battery electric vehicle model locally built in Thailand. On February 27, the TANK 300 officially hit the market in South Africa.
