Ferrous metal market swung on a subdued note last week. Restart of BFs was repeatedly delayed. Iron ore prices stayed rangebound. The official manufacturing PMI data for February fell by 0.1 percentage points MoM.
Looking forward, market focus will be put on actual demand in the peak season and the pace of steel mills production resumption. Weaker-than-expected restart of BFs, stable-to-soft raw material prices and the upcoming Two Sessions will put steel prices on track for its rally in a short run. In the mid-to-long term, the digestion of macro expectations, actual demand softness and possible steel plate export weakness may add bearishness into steel market.
