Stellantis’ European operations chief, Uwe Hochgeschurtz, has warned that the UK government must take further action to encourage drivers to switch to electric vehicles before the company will commit to fully transforming its Luton van factory to produce battery-powered models. Stellantis is currently in negotiations with the UK government regarding financial support for the factory transformation. Last week, Stellantis announced that it will begin "limited" production of medium-sized electric vans in Luton next year, where the company currently produces diesel-powered vehicles. Stellantis is the owner of the UK car brand Vauxhall. (Financial Times)
