Beijing (Gasgoo)- WeRide recently obtained the demonstration application permit for autonomous passenger-carrying ride-share (Robotaxi) service on certain expressways within the Beijing High-level Automated Driving Demonstration Area (BJHAD).

Its Robotaxi vehicles are now authorized to conduct passenger-carrying demonstration operations between Beijing Daxing International Airport and Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area.

This marks Beijing's first public passenger-carrying autonomous driving demonstration activity on expressways and the city's first autonomous passenger-carrying shuttle service spanning low-speed to high-speed scenarios, connecting urban areas with the airport.

Since obtaining the qualification for expressway testing in the BJHAD on September 27, 2023, WeRide has achieved a remarkable milestone in just four months, entering the pilot phase for expressway passenger-carrying Robotaxi demonstration applications.

With the opening of the public expressway Robotaxi shuttle service, travelers and citizens can conveniently book WeRide Robotaxis via the WeRide Go App. They have the flexibility to choose from nearly 300 pickup and drop-off stations within the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area and travel to and from the Daxing Airport terminal. The journey covers various urban and expressway scenarios, including approximately 40 kilometers of expressway driving, during which the Robotaxis autonomously navigate ramps and pass through toll stations.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
