Xingneng Technology's Yujian 16GWh energy storage system and energy operation trading center Phase I project is implemented by Jiangxi Xingneng Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. The project has been included in the 2024 provincial large and medium-sized plan, with a planned annual production capacity of 16GWh, including a Phase I project with a production capacity of 4GWh.

On February 18, 2024, the groundbreaking ceremony for major projects and the mobilization conference for the "Ten Billion" project in Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province, were held. The event took place at the construction site of Phase I of the Xingneng Technology Yujian 16GWh energy storage system and energy operation trading center in Yujiang District.

In the first quarter of 2024, Yujiang District plans to start construction on 41 major projects, including 34 projects with an investment of over 100 million yuan. Compared to 2023, the number of projects has increased by 8, with a total investment of 13.733 billion yuan and an annual planned investment of 6.435 billion yuan. The projects cover seven main areas: 26 in industrial development with a total investment of 10.468 billion yuan; 2 in industrial park infrastructure with a total investment of 520 million yuan; 2 in infrastructure with a total investment of 335 million yuan; 3 in agriculture, forestry, and water with a total investment of 502 million yuan; 2 in energy with a total investment of 758 million yuan; 5 in social services with a total investment of 1.101 billion yuan; and 1 in transportation with a total investment of 47 million yuan.

The Xingneng Technology Yujian 16GWh energy storage system and energy operation trading center Phase I project is implemented by Jiangxi Xingneng Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. The project has been included in the 2024 provincial large and medium-sized plan and is located in the Yingtan (Yujiang) Eyeglass Industrial Park, east of Qipei Road and north of Qipei Second Road. The planned land area is approximately 100.42 acres, with a planned annual production capacity of 16GWh, including a Phase I project with a production capacity of 4GWh. The total construction area of the project is approximately 48,130 square meters, including an above-ground area of about 47,480 square meters and an underground area of about 650 square meters. The construction mainly includes factory buildings, dormitories, exhibition halls, cafeterias, security gates, motor vehicle parking spaces and roads, landscaping, greenery, and other ancillary facilities. The total investment in the project is approximately 635 million yuan, with construction investment of about 500 million yuan and other costs of about 135 million yuan.

[SMM Analysis] Beyond Utility-Scale Energy Storage: Demand Structure and Evolution of the Telecom Base Station Backup Power Market
[SMM Analysis] In H1 2026, shipments of power batteries and ESS batteries in China reached approximately 723 GWh and 463 GWh, respectively, while shipments of LFP batteries for backup power in communication base stations were about 6.4 GWh, with the overall scale being relatively small. Unlike utility-scale energy storage, backup power for communication base stations has the typical nature of infrastructure assurance; its demand is more determined by the installed base of communication networks, equipment renewal cycles, and backup reliability requirements. As China's communication infrastructure construction gradually matures, the market driver is shifting from deployments for new base stations to the replacement of existing lithium batteries and the substitution of lead-acid batteries with LFP batteries. At the same time, improvements in energy management capabilities at some sites may further expand battery usage scenarios, but this will not alter the fundamental nature of communication backup power, which centers on reliable power supply. Overall, backup power for communication base stations is more like a niche lithium battery market with limited scale but relatively stable demand, continuously supported by upgrades of existing assets and technology substitution.

Orders skyrocketing 3000%! Global ESS battery annual sales poised to historically surpass 1 TWh!
As "full capacity" and "flooded with orders" became the truest reflections of the ESS sector in H1, a growth wave driven by both AI computing power and the energy transition is propelling the global ESS battery market to unprecedented heights. Data from the National Energy Administration shows that in H1, investment in key energy projects in China maintained positive growth despite last year's high base, with new-type energy storage up 74.3% YoY. As of end-June, completed and operational new-type energy storage installations nationwide reached 153 GW/396 GWh (153 GW/396 GWh), up 61% YoY. Compared with the end of 2025, when the figures stood at 136 GW/351 GWh (136 GW/351 GWh), this implies new installations of 17 GW/45 GWh in H1.
