Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On February 20, Chery's premium brand EXEED and CATL jointly announced that the latter's Shenxing battery has debuted in the former's STERRA ET model.

In the era of mainstream adoption for electric vehicles, the demand for rapid recharging has surged dramatically. Addressing the challenge of instilling confidence in users and alleviating concerns about charging and range issues has become a paramount focus for major players in the new energy vehicle sector.

Leveraging the all-domain 800V platform and the advanced Shenxing supercharging battery, the STERRA ET boasts exceptional "All-Temperature Flash Charging" capabilities. Under standard conditions of 25℃, it achieves an astounding "10-minute charge for 400 kilometers," comparable to the refueling efficiency of traditional gasoline vehicles, said the automaker.

For electric vehicles to deliver a satisfactory travel experience in the harsh winters of the northern regions, overcoming the challenges posed by the key electric system and low-temperature environments is crucial. EXEED said the STERRA ET exhibits impressive charging performance even in low-temperature conditions. In a recent joint trial conducted by EXEED and CATL in Heihe city, the STERRA ET demonstrated a remarkable 24-minute charging time to go from 20% to 80% State of Charge (SOC) in frigid -20℃ temperatures, showcasing its reliability and stability in ultra-low-temperature environments.

The revolutionary innovation of the Shenxing battery stems from the application of cutting-edge technologies, including the super electronic network cathode, graphite fast ion ring, ultra-high conductivity electrolyte, ultra-thin SEI (solid electrolyte interface) membrane, and high porosity isolation membrane, according to the official introduction.

In response to the potential risk of battery thermal runaway, the STERRA ET adopts a series of thermal protection measures. Through simulation analysis, it designs a scientifically engineered exhaust path and an active cooling system, preventing the occurrence and spread of thermal runaway in the battery pack.

In cold environments, new energy vehicles often suffer from decreased battery performance, leading to insufficient power and a compromised driving experience. Equipped with the Shenxing battery, the STERRA ET maintains high discharge power under various temperature and battery level conditions. Even in low-temperature states, its power performance remains consistent, with no noticeable acceleration degradation. In a joint trial conducted by EXEED and CATL in Heihe at -25℃, the STERRA ET achieved an impressive 0-100km/h acceleration in 5.46 second with only 20% SOC.

At the 2023 Chery Tech Day, Chery Holding and CATL jointly announced the decision to install the Shenxing battery onto the STERRA ET first. Representing the latest collaborative achievement between the two entities, the Shenxing battery globally debuts in the STERRA ET, bringing technological equality and shared value to users in terms of recharging capabilities.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
