Beijing (Gasgoo)- On February 21, both Huawei's Intelligent Automotive Solution (IAS) Business Unit (BU) and Dongfeng Mengshi Technology, which operates the brand MHERO, took to Weibo, hinting at a forthcoming announcement with posts reading "New Year, New Friends, Good News Tomorrow," while tagging each other, echoing Huawei's previous collaboration announcement with Dongfeng's premium new energy vehicle brand VOYAH.

Speculations abound, with many anticipating a new partnership announcement on February 22.

In January of this year, Huawei and Dongfeng Motor's VOYAH brand signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Leveraging their respective strengths, both parties aim to co-create the ultimate intelligent mobility experience tailored to user needs. Their collaboration will explore innovations across various domains, accelerating the large-scale commercialization of intelligent technologies. However, specific details of their cooperation remain undisclosed.

Interestingly, during this period of collaboration announcement, Huawei's IAS BU Chairman, Yu Chengdong, was spotted at Dongfeng Motor, experiencing the MHERO 917 luxury hardcore off-road vehicle from the MHERO brand. This sighting seems to have foreshadowed the impending partnership.

As Dongfeng Motors' venture into luxury electric off-road vehicles, the MHERO brand was officially launched on August 27, 2022, focusing primarily on new energy hardcore off-road products. Currently, the brand has introduced its first mass-produced model, the MHERO 917. As the debut model riding on the M TECH intelligent off-road architecture, the MHERO 917 offers extended-range and pure electric power versions, with prices starting from 637,700 yuan for the extended-range version and 697,700 yuan for the pure electric version.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
