BYD secures nearly 20% share in Japan's imported battery electric vehicle market in Jan.

In January, BYD made a significant impact on Japan's imported battery electric vehicle market, capturing nearly 20% of the share. According to the latest data from the Japan Automobile Importers Association (JAIA), pure electric vehicle imports in Japan experienced an 11% year-on-year growth in January 2024, reaching a total of 1,186 units and maintaining a growth trend for the second consecutive month.

Notably, BYD achieved an outstanding six-fold increase in monthly sales in Japan compared to the previous year, securing the second position in Japan's imported battery electric vehicle market.

Z-ONE Tech, Shanghai Jiao Tong University inaugurate joint R&D Center for intelligent connected vehicle technology

On February 8, Z-ONE Tech, SAIC Motor’s software subsidiary, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University officially inaugurated the Joint Research and Development Center for Intelligent Connected Vehicle Technology. IAT Automotive, Yazaki China set up joint venture

On February 8, IAT Automobile Technology Co., Ltd. and Yazaki (China) Investment Corporation signed a letter of intent to establish a joint venture. The collaboration aims to leverage synergies through strong cooperation and innovative approaches. Initially focusing on collaborative efforts in the high-voltage electric system core technology of the new energy vehicle industry, the partners plan to jointly conduct R&D, tapping into a united global sales network to seize a prominent position in the global market for high-voltage electric systems.

BYD announced on Feb. 6 it had officially launched its latest all-electric model, the Seagull, for the Jordanian market. This introduction marks a significant stride in BYD's efforts to diversify its product offerings within the passenger car segment in Jordan.

SAIC Motor's new energy vehicle sales in Jan. 2024 surge 99.68% YoY

SAIC Motor announced on Feb. 8 its monthly auto sales reached 244,916 units in the first month of 2024, edging up 2.9% from the previous year.

Of the vehicles the group sold last month, 64,338 units were new energy vehicles, representing a robust year-on-year surge of 99.68%.

China's power battery installed capacity in Jan. 2024 shoots up 100.2% YoY, but falls 32.6% MoM

In January 2024, China's installed capacity of power batteries reached 32.3GWh, marking a year-on-year spike of 100.2%, but showing a month-on-month decrease of 32.6%, according to data by the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance (CAPBIIA).
