Beijing (Gasgoo)- On January 2, the Toyota Sienna-based Robotaxi, equipped with Pony.ai's sixth-generation L4 autonomous driving software and hardware, has been granted permission to conduct unmanned passenger-carrying demonstration in Beijing with remote monitoring.

In Beijing's Yizhuang area, passengers can summon the vehicle using Pony.ai’s PonyPilot+ app, immersing themselves in the latest product technologies and innovative travel experiences. This model is concurrently undergoing fully autonomous passenger-carrying testing in both Beijing and Guangzhou.

Pony.ai's 6th-genaration Toyota Sienna-based Robotaxi boasts a new and upgraded automotive-grade multisensory solution, establishing a multi-layered redundancy mechanism. The system incorporates an in-house developed production-level domain controller as a redundant computing platform, encompassing comprehensive software, computational platforms, and vehicle platform redundancy systems. This approach maximizes scenario coverage and ensures a robust safety processing mechanism.

The collaboration between Pony.ai and Toyota initiated in 2019. This Sienna-based Robotaxi offers spacious seating and versatile storage, with over 90% of usable space in the trunk, catering to diverse usage scenarios such as family outings. Additionally, passengers can customize their unique welcome light color through the app, making it easier to spot their vehicle in traffic. The app also allows for pre-ventilation and temperature adjustments, enhancing the overall experience.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
