Photovoltaics, wind power, new energy vehicles, power, and energy storage batteries have become the main areas driving the growth of non-ferrous metal consumption. By 2023, the output of photovoltaics, wind power, new energy vehicles, power, and energy storage batteries in China, as well as the domestic installation of new energy, and the export volume of products in these areas, are all expected to increase significantly, becoming the main areas driving the growth of copper, aluminum, zinc, and other non-ferrous metal consumption.
According to estimates, in 2023, the above-mentioned industries will consume approximately 3 million tons of copper, an increase of 52% compared to the previous year, accounting for about 19% of the national copper consumption; they will consume approximately 9 million tons of aluminum, an increase of 50% compared to the previous year, accounting for about 20% of the national aluminum consumption; the consumption of galvanized wind turbine towers, bolts, and other steel structure equipment, as well as galvanized steel supports for photovoltaics, will be approximately 700,000 tons, an increase of 51% compared to the previous year, accounting for about 9% of the national zinc consumption.
