Shanghai (Gasgoo)- In a recent ceremony held at the Guangdong Zhaoqing factory, Chinese new energy vehicle XPeng launched the renovation of its production line for a new vehicle model.

This initiative, through technological upgrades, aims to enhance the existing vehicle production line at the Zhaoqing base to prepare for the production of the upcoming vehicle. The comprehensive modification project for the new vehicle model line involves a total investment exceeding a billion yuan, encompassing stamping, welding, painting, and assembly workshops, along with logistics equipment facilities. The entire process is expected to take approximately 20 days. The project is progressing steadily according to the plan, with the goal of completing all transformation tasks by February 9 and finishing overall production line debugging by the end of February.

Built on this production line renovation, Lü Yuanmei, General Manager of XPeng's Zhaoqing base, expressed that the company aims to upgrade the existing vehicle production line, increase factory capacity, and strengthen the base to meet the new phase of sales volume growth. Simultaneously, the carmaker plans to leverage its role as a leading enterprise in Zhaoqing city, collaborating with the local government to accelerate industrial clustering and jointly promote the development of the new energy vehicle and automotive components industry in Zhaoqing.

The Zhaoqing intelligent manufacturing base of XPeng, whose groundbreaking took place at the end of 2017 and operation commenced in May 2020, saw its second-phase project officially signed and commenced in August 2021. By 2025, XPeng' multiple factories in Zhaoqing, Guangzhou, and the future expansion plan will gradually undergo technological upgrades and enhancements.

According to the latest monthly sales data released by XPeng, in 2023, the company delivered a total of 141,601 new vehicles, marking a 17% year-on-year growth. As of December 31, 2023, XPeng achieved a historic cumulative delivery volume of 400,311 vehicles.
