SGMW eyes 700,000 units of annual new energy vehicle output, sales in 2024

SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) recently revealed via its WeChat account its ambitious goal to manufacture and sell 700,000 new energy vehicles in 2024.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- SAIC-GM-Wuling ("SGMW") recently revealed via its WeChat account its ambitious goal to manufacture and sell 700,000 new energy vehicles in 2024.

Building on the momentum of the previous year, where SGMW, including its overseas bases, achieved a remarkable sales figure of 459,000 new energy vehicles in 2023, the company aims for substantial growth in 2024, anticipating a year-on-year increase of 52.5%.

With a total annual automobile sales volume reaching 1,403,066 units in 2023, SGMW introduced 11 new car models, including the Wuling Binguo, the Baojun Yep, the Baojun Yun Duo, and the Wuling Xingguang. These additions contributed to over 370,000 units in sales.

Underscoring the investment in innovation, SGMW has established 14 advanced vehicle and component testing laboratories, joined establishment of 6 sub-labs that involve such technical fields as controllers, chips, and smart voice. Engaging in 84 national and provincial-level projects, contributing to 157 domestic and international new energy vehicle standards, and obtaining over 6,000 patents, SGMW focuses on user concerns, introducing technology brands like Lingxi Hybrid, Lingxi Intelligent Driving, Shenlian Battery, Tianyu Architecture, Ling OS intelligent ecosystem, and WIMS intelligent manufacturing system. Those technical fruits have been applied in such models as the Baojun Yun Duo, the Wuling Binguo, and the Wuling Xingguang.
