Iveco and BASF reach cooperation on electric vehicle battery recycling
On January 23rd, the Italian truck and bus manufacturer Iveco Group announced a partnership with the German chemical group BASF to recycle the lithium-ion batteries used in its electric vehicles. According to the agreement with Iveco, BASF will manage the entire recycling process of lithium-ion batteries used in Iveco's pure electric trucks, buses, and vehicles, including collection, packaging, transportation, and recycling from various European countries. BASF will mechanically process these batteries into 'black mass' and extract and reuse raw materials such as nickel, cobalt, and lithium. Afterwards, BASF will supply the recovered metals to the local battery industry in Europe.
