OnTime, the ride-hailing platform under GAC Group, has obtained regulatory approval for passenger-carrying autonomous vehicle demonstrations in Shenzhen.

Beijing (Gasgoo)- OnTime, the ride-hailing platform under GAC Group, has obtained regulatory approval for passenger-carrying autonomous vehicle demonstrations in Shenzhen. The officially launched OnTime Robotaxi in Shenzhen aims to provide citizens with safe, comfortable, and convenient autonomous driving services.

Following its debut in Guangzhou, Shenzhen marks the second city where the OnTime Robotaxi services are now available.

Currently, the OnTime Robotaxi has seamlessly integrated into OnTime's platform, offering a mixed operation of regular ride-hailing and autonomous Robotaxi services in the designated regions in Shenzhen. Users can access the autonomous driving services effortlessly through the OnTime app, where the platform intelligently matches either manned or autonomous vehicles based on factors like waiting time and distance.

In June 2023, OnTime, Pony.ai, and the authorities of Shenzhen’s Qianhai Cooperation Zone signed a cooperation framework agreement. The collaboration aims to establish a globally significant autonomous driving commercial pilot project, featuring routine operations without an onboard safety operator in the Robotaxi, in the Qianhai Cooperation Zone. OnTime, supported by the Qianhai Cooperation Zone, will partner with Pony.ai to form a specialized operational team, exploring a collaborative and commercial multi-entity operating model. The initiation of OnTime Robotaxi's passenger-carrying demonstrations in Shenzhen accelerates the realization of routine autonomous driving commercial pilot projects without an onboard safety operator.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
