Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On January 18, BYD held a passenger car brand launch event at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah in Jakarta, introducing three battery electric vehicle (BEV) models – the BYD ATTO 3, the BYD DOLPHIN, and the BYD SEAL (named Yuan PLUS, Dolphin, and Seal in China). The event marked BYD's commitment to the Indonesian market and its vision for a sustainable automotive future.

Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, delivered a video speech during the event, sharing BYD's plans to invest in establishing a production base in the country. He expressed the belief that BYD's presence would offer Indonesian consumers more choices in new energy vehicles, enhancing the popularity of electric cars in Indonesia.

Liu Xueliang, General Manager of BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division, addressed the audience, stating, "We are fully aware of Indonesia's growing demand for new energy products and sustainable transportation. We believe that Indonesia will soon see the widespread adoption of new energy vehicles."

The launch event featured various BYD technology experience zones showcasing innovations such as the e-Platform 3.0, Blade Battery, CTB (cell-to-body) integration technology, and V2L in-vehicle discharge technology, highlighting BYD's commitment to new energy technology.

Beyond introducing the brand and technology, the event included test drive sessions for the three new models. The driving route traversed the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, spanning a distance of 2.8 kilometers, with safety personnel ensuring a secure driving experience.

Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, stated, "Since 2018, BYD commercial vehicles have been put into public transportation services in several key cities in Indonesia. Today marks a new beginning for BYD's green journey in Indonesia. We plan to open 50 stores nationwide along with our partners. Additionally, BYD will begin construction plans for production sites in Indonesia later this year, committing to building and developing an electric vehicle ecosystem and injecting new vitality into Indonesia with high-end products and excellent service."

In 2023, BYD achieved annual sales of over 3 million new energy vehicles, securing the title of the global champion by new energy vehicle sales. The footprint of BYD's new energy vehicles spans over 70 countries and regions, reaching more than 400 cities worldwide.
