Beijing (Gasgoo)- Recently, GAC Toyota Sienna Robotaxi, equipped with Pony.ai's sixth-generation autonomous driving software and hardware system, secured commercial demonstration operation approval in Guangzhou's Nansha district.

Leveraging Pony.ai's proprietary ride-hailing platform, PonyPilot+, and GAC Group’s OnTime ride-share platform, the Robotaxi is now available for paid services in the area. Users can summon the latest generation Robotaxi through the PonyPilot+ and OnTime ride-share apps, enjoying a secure, comfortable, and convenient autonomous driving experience.

The upgraded model enhances the Robotaxi service experience, providing a more spacious and comfortable ride. Passengers can control air conditioning and lighting through rear-row control panels and, in emergencies, contact the customer service center via the control panel or the in-car SOS physical button. The operational range covers the entire 803 square kilometers of Nansha district, Guangzhou, with service periods from 8:00 to 22:30, including rush hours.

Jointly developed by Pony.ai and Toyota, 15 of the GAC Toyota Sienna Robotaxis had been included into the OnTime ride-share platform. It marks the second vehicle in Pony.ai's collaboration with OnTime, following the successful operation of the Lexus RX Robotaxi, which employs Pony.ai’s fifth-generation system, receiving widespread acclaim from users over the past few months.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
