Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Mercedes-Benz Group unveiled its annual sales data in China this week, revealing a cumulative delivery of approximately 765,000 new vehicles in the world's largest auto market, maintaining a level comparable to the previous year.

Key vehicles in the Mercedes-Benz luxury lineup showcased impressive performance. The long-wheelbase C-Class achieved nearly a double-digit annual year-on-year (YoY) growth in deliveries, while product upgrades have been completed for the long-wheelbase GLC SUV and long-wheelbase E-Class.

Additionally, the high-end luxury product portfolio, including the Mercedes-Maybach brand and the G-Class SUV, achieved sustained growth, recording a 21% and 22% YoY increase in annual sales, respectively.

Oliver Britz, Executive Vice President of Sales at Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service Co., Ltd., attributed the success to strategic product launches, including the upgraded long-wheelbase GLC SUV and long-wheelbase E-Class, along with the market introduction of electric models like the EQE all-electric SUV and EQS all-electric SUV.

Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz plans to introduce over 15 new and next-generation products in 2024, aligning with its two-pronged product strategy covering various power options and product matrices. The lineup will focus on high-end luxury, core luxury, and the new generation of luxury products simultaneously. Notable releases include the first all-electric version of the G-Class off-road vehicle (the all-new all-electric G-Class), the first mass-produced all-electric model from the Mercedes-Maybach brand (the all-new Maybach EQS pure electric SUV), and the all-new AMG all-electric EQE 53 SUV.

Alongside product diversification, Mercedes-Benz is advancing its retail network upgrades and implementing green retail initiatives in China. The retail network upgrade project, based on the "2020 Network Upgrade Plan," is set to accelerate in 2024, with a comprehensive conclusion by the end of 2025. Simultaneously, the "Green Retail" project, covering new and renovated dealerships, is expected to reduce carbon emissions by half by the end of 2026 compared to 2021.

On the front of user experience, Mercedes-Benz's super-fast charging stations are already operational in cities such as Chengdu, Foshan, Qingdao, Chongqing, Kunming, Wuhan, Suzhou, Changzhou, and more. As of now, Mercedes-Benz's public charging service spans across over 340 cities nationwide, with access to nearly 590,000 public charging piles.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
