GAC Group surpasses 2.5-million-unit mark in both annual auto output, sales in 2023

GAC Group announced on Friday that both of its annual auto output and sales exceeded 2.5 million units in 2023.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC Group announced on Friday that both of its annual auto output and sales exceeded 2.5 million units in 2023.

Last year, the Guangzhou-based auto group produced 2,528,822 vehicles and sold 2,504,975 vehicles, representing a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 1.97% and 2.92%, respectively.

In December alone, GAC Group's auto production and sales volumes amounted to 238,680 units and 259,138 units, jumping 19.49% and 25.79% from the previous year.

Of the new energy vehicles sold in 2023, 549,602 units were new energy vehicles (NEVs), indicating a remarkable YoY hike of 77.55%. As for monthly performance, the group's NEV sales reached 58,677 units in December, leaping 57.14% from a year earlier.

Among the main subsidiaries of the group, GAC Motor was the only one to suffer a YoY decline in its December sales. Both GAC Honda and GAC Toyota attained a YoY rise of over 30% with 79,329 vehicles and 97,408 vehicles sold last month, respectively. GAC AION was the fastest-growing one in terms of YoY change in monthly sales.

Regarding the full-year sales, the aforementioned two Sino-Japanese joint ventures both saw their annual sales in 2023 shrink over a year ago. GAC Motor sold 406,505 vehicles across 2023, reflecting a 12.12% YoY increase, while GAC AION boasted a 77.02% YoY spike with 480,003 vehicles sold last year.

GAC Group said there were nine models in total whose respective sales in December all exceeded 10,000 units, namely, the Camry series (24,251 units), the AION Y (24,018 units), the ACCORD series (23,392 units), the Frontlander series (22,616 units), the BREEZE series (18,844 units), the INTEGRA series, the Wildlander series (17,086 units), the AION S (15,824 units), and Highlander (12,011 units).
